Program Identity & Fit

This is a five-year categorical general surgery program at Memorial Health University Medical Center, a Mercer University School of Medicine-affiliated, HCA-owned teaching hospital in Savannah with high operative volumes (average 1000-1200+ major cases per graduating chief, well above ACGME minimums across liver, pancreas, laparoscopic, pediatric, and vascular categories). The program emphasizes broad exposure to trauma/critical care, surgical oncology, vascular, colorectal, ENT, cardiothoracic, and minimally invasive/bariatric surgery, supported by a structured simulation lab, laparoscopic trainers, and an animal lab for skills development.
