USF's Adult Neurology program is an academic, university-affiliated four-year residency (12 residents/year) built around training "clinical neuroscientists" who integrate expert patient care with basic and clinical neuroscience understanding. The clinical training base spans Tampa General Hospital and the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, with the latter anchoring a notably deep subspecialty and fellowship infrastructure, including a high-volume, 100-bed Spinal Cord Injury center and an in-house pipeline of fellowships (Clinical Neurophysiology, Pain Medicine, Headache Medicine, Vascular Neurology, Multiple Sclerosis, SCI Medicine). Faculty are described as active in both clinical and basic/clinical research, and the program explicitly states graduates are prepared for both private clinical practice and academic neurology careers, reflecting a dual-track orientation rather than a purely academic or purely community identity.
