UIC Neurology is a categorical, medicine-based 4-year academic program anchored at the University of Illinois Hospital, a tertiary/quaternary comprehensive stroke center, with a complementary continuity site at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, giving residents exposure to both a complex urban tertiary referral population and a distinct veteran population. The program is structured around broad subspecialty immersion (vascular, epilepsy/EMU, neurocritical care, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, neuromuscular, movement disorders) with early and longitudinal exposure to each, formal procedural exposure (e.g., Botox), and a required, mentored longitudinal research project culminating in a peer-reviewed manuscript.
