This is a five-year categorical academic urology program built on the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital-Washington Hospital Center axis, with subspecialty rotations spanning Children's National Medical Center, the VA Medical Center, NIH, and a distinctive PGY-4 rotation at Virginia Hospital Center designed explicitly to expose residents to private-practice operational and business realities. The program deliberately contrasts high-acuity academic training (level-1 trauma, complex oncology, robotic surgery, reconstruction) with community-based ambulatory practice exposure, and its NIH rotation offers direct involvement in rare urologic oncology pathology and cutting-edge research.
