Program Identity & Fit

TriStar Centennial is a community-based, HCA-affiliated four-year psychiatry program (inaugural class 2021) offering broad clinical exposure across inpatient, outpatient, consult-liaison, child/adolescent, geriatric, addiction, forensic, and community psychiatry rotations at a Nashville hospital within HCA's large multi-site network. Research is emphasized as "a major portion" of training, with a structured curriculum spanning clinical research, QI projects, journal club, book chapters and review articles, supported by a Division Director of Research and access to HCA's national scholarly infrastructure and 30+ million patient encounters. Curriculum design explicitly allows individualized tracking toward inpatient psychiatry, ambulatory practice, or subspecialty fellowship, reflecting a flexible, career-agnostic training philosophy rather than a fixed academic or subspecialty identity.
