Program Identity & Fit

This is an independent (post-general-surgery-entry), three-year ACGME plastic surgery residency splitting time between Cleveland Clinic Florida's Weston/Coral Springs campuses and the public safety-net Broward Health system, deliberately pairing privately insured and underserved patient populations. The curriculum is procedurally broad rather than research-centric, spanning general reconstructive and cosmetic plastics, hand, craniofacial, burn, pediatric, gender-affirmation, and lymphedema/migraine surgery, with additional exposure to South Florida private cosmetic practices in the third year to prepare residents for independent practice. Six residents rotate as two shuffled three-person teams across sites in three-month blocks, an unusual team-based structure emphasizing collegiality ("residents and attendings... colleagues separated by a few years of training") over hierarchy, with graduates going into both academic and private practice. The program's identity centers on breadth of clinical/procedural exposure and progressive autonomy rather than a dominant research or subspecialty fellowship pipeline.
