UNMC's Pediatrics residency is an academic, university-affiliated program built around a rapidly growing, freestanding children's hospital (Children's Nebraska), giving residents access to the full spectrum of pediatric subspecialties in a single tertiary referral environment. The program's dual academic partnership with Creighton University and the University of Nebraska gives residents teaching responsibilities across two medical schools, reflecting an identity oriented toward education and academic development alongside clinical training.
