UND's Pediatrics program is a small, community-based residency anchored at Sanford Health facilities in Fargo, offering categorical training across a network of Sanford clinics and inpatient/subspecialty services with structured away rotations (Sioux Falls for PEM, Minneapolis for Adolescent Medicine) to fill regional subspecialty gaps. The GME mission explicitly centers on training physicians to serve North Dakota communities, and the curriculum emphasizes continuity clinic with a fixed preceptor across all three years, quality improvement as a graduation requirement, and scholarly activity framed as preparation for academic medicine, community practice, or fellowship rather than one dominant track.
