Cleveland Clinic Children's is a tertiary/quaternary academic pediatric program anchored at a major main-campus children's hospital and complemented by two community hospital sites (Hillcrest, Fairview) and a freestanding rehabilitation hospital, giving residents exposure across the full acuity spectrum from Level IV NICU and 25-bed PICU to community newborn nurseries and regional hospital medicine. The program is built around an immersion X+Y block structure (4 weeks inpatient/elective + 2 weeks ambulatory) with longitudinal continuity clinic, a structured primary care track, and a required mentored QI/patient-safety project plus an optional longitudinal research elective culminating in an annual research day, indicating research and QI are structured and encouraged but not mandatory scholarly output at a scientist level.
