Program Identity & Fit

This is a university-based ophthalmology program at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown, integrating Brown University Health's LPG ophthalmology clinics with a VA Eye Clinic, and serving as sole 24-hour eye emergency coverage for a top-five busiest ED and a federally designated Health Professions Shortage Area with a large refugee and underserved population. The program uses a fully integrated transitional-year structure, a dedicated EyeSi surgical simulator with a structured bimonthly curriculum, and graduated resident autonomy culminating in consult-service and chief responsibilities by PG-4.
