Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based, osteopathically-rooted OB/GYN residency affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, emphasizing progressive graduated autonomy in obstetrical and surgical management from a small, tight-knit resident complement. The curriculum is structured around continuity ambulatory clinic, dedicated ultrasound training (including a formal three-day course), and simulation/robotics exposure to meet board certification requirements, with rotations condensed early to maximize obstetrical immersion. Nearly all core faculty are DOs trained at McLaren Greater Lansing itself (a self-perpetuating osteopathic pipeline), and research is structured as a mandatory but modest requirement (regional research day presentations, QI projects) rather than a driver of program identity. The program explicitly frames itself around producing generalist OB/GYNs ready for private or community practice, not subspecialty academic careers.
