Program Identity & Fit

This is a four-year, community-based ACGME-accredited OB/GYN program (since 2019) operating across two HCA-affiliated hospitals in El Paso—Las Palmas and Del Sol Medical Centers—with a combined annual delivery volume exceeding 4,400 births, providing high clinical volume in a predominantly Hispanic, border-region patient population. Training emphasizes broad inpatient obstetric exposure with rotations through MFM, REI, Gyn Onc, Uro Gyn, and outpatient family planning, reflecting a generalist community-practice foundation rather than a subspecialty pipeline. Scholarly activity is structured but standardized rather than research-driven: every resident completes a case report, a research/QI project, symposium participation, and a manuscript submission, meeting rather than exceeding ACGME expectations. As part of HCA's national GME network, the program values resident wellness, autonomy, and team cohesion, and offers graduates a built-in pathway into HCA's expansive multistate hospital system after training.
