Dell Seton Medical Center Program is one of two equivalent, jointly-run categorical neurology residencies within Dell Medical School's Department of Neurology, embedded in a rapidly growing academic health system anchored by a tier-one research university in Austin. Training deliberately balances outpatient continuity clinic experience with hospital-based care (no 24-hour call, two-week blocks, graded PGY-2 autonomy with pager responsibility and layered supervision), spanning subspecialty exposure in stroke, epilepsy, neurocritical care, and child neurology across Dell Seton and Ascension Seton hospitals plus VA-based continuity clinics. The program explicitly frames its mission around "master clinicians" who translate neuroscience into practice and treat clinic/community as laboratories for care-transformation work, with all residents completing quality improvement and health-systems-science training and being encouraged toward early research or QI projects; in-house fellowships in neurophysiology, neuroimmunology, and vascular neurology extend subspecialization locally.
