This is a small, four-year integrated neurology residency (3 positions/year) based at Kaiser Foundation Hospital Los Angeles, a tertiary care hospital serving as the regional referral center for over 4.5 million Southern California Kaiser members, with required rotations at UCLA's Ronald Reagan Medical Center. The program's small size and eighteen subspecialty-covering attendings support close one-on-one mentorship, and residents are given early, progressive clinical autonomy, including junior residents leading multidisciplinary stroke rounds. Research exists through the broader KPSC GME research infrastructure but is not positioned as central to the neurology program's identity, which instead emphasizes graduated clinical responsibility, complex referral-based caseload, and resident wellness within an integrated health-system model. The program appears to value residents who thrive with early independent responsibility, function well in a closed-system, high-referral-volume environment, and want a sustainable, well-balanced training experience rather than a research-heavy academic track.
