Program Identity & Fit

St. Luke's Bethlehem is a community-based, university-affiliated (Temple/St. Luke's School of Medicine) internal medicine program built on an X+Y block structure (six weeks inpatient, two weeks continuity clinic) that produces broadly competent generalists, hospitalists, and fellowship-bound subspecialists. The program supports research through a structured curriculum (monthly research meetings, dedicated research rotations, IRB/RedCap training, an annual Research Day, and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship) with faculty actively guiding residents toward regional/national presentations and publications. Its most distinctive feature is a competitive, ABIM/ACC-piloted Cardiology Track selected mid-residency for highly motivated candidates with strong scores, class rank, and demonstrated cardiology interest, layering additional subspecialty rotations (echo, EP, interventional) atop the categorical curriculum. The program values flexibility to individual career goals, one-on-one faculty mentorship, and resident initiative in both clinical and scholarly work, drawing residents from a wide range of US and international medical schools including its own osteopathic and MD partner school.
