WellSpan Chambersburg is a newly launched (inaugural class July 2025) community-based family medicine residency built explicitly to address a documented primary care physician shortage in Franklin County, PA, training six residents per year across a WellSpan-owned PCMH office and Keystone Health, a longstanding FQHC partner. The identity is community/underserved-oriented rather than research- or subspecialty-driven: curriculum emphasizes broad-spectrum outpatient and inpatient family medicine, procedural and physical exam skill-building, and ACGME-milestone-aligned didactics, with journal club/EBM present but not positioned as a scholarly output engine. A distinctive feature is the longitudinal two-year Global Health Track (with international low-resource rotations) open to all residents, reflecting a mission around cultural humility, health equity, and service to underserved populations, reinforced by WellSpan's system-wide NCQA Health Equity Accreditation. As a new program without an alumni track record, it appears to value residents who are adaptable, community-minded, and invested in comprehensive, whole-person primary care rather than fellowship-focused subspecialization.
