Program Identity & Fit

The Full Circle Health/FMRI Nampa Program is a community-based, unopposed family medicine residency built to produce broad-scope physicians for rural and underserved Idaho practice, anchored in a teaching health center/FQHC continuity clinic and an 87-bed community hospital (St. Luke's Nampa) for inpatient, OB, and emergency training. Curriculum emphasizes procedural volume and autonomy - upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, obstetrics with a busy 14-room L&D deck, longitudinal scoping and vasectomy tracks, and osteopathic-recognition-oriented care - alongside three mandatory rural rotations and optional away rotations that let residents shape training toward future practice settings. Scholarly activity exists (WWAMI/ITHS practice-based research network, HelpDesk Answers, QI and community health projects) but is oriented toward practice-based scholarship and community needs assessment rather than bench or hypothesis-driven research. The program values flexibility, community-embeddedness, and physicians prepared for full-spectrum, procedurally competent rural and safety-net practice over subspecialization.
