Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based osteopathic-recognition family medicine residency at a 330-bed, Level II trauma teaching hospital that is a major osteopathic training site within Corewell Health's Southeast Michigan system and affiliated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. With only 5 residents per year, the program emphasizes individualized attention, integrating ambulatory continuity clinic experience with a lecture curriculum built around osteopathic principles, empathy, introspection, and adult learning theory. Career preparation is oriented toward broad-scope, whole-person primary care rather than subspecialization, framed explicitly around the traditional "cradle to grave" family medicine identity.
