HonorHealth's Dermatology Residency is a community-based, ASU-affiliated program in Scottsdale that trains two residents per year through a Joint A/P Track with HonorHealth's Internal Medicine program, guaranteeing all four years of training within the same system. The curriculum spans a broad clinical network - VA Medical Center and VA clinic, Phoenix Children's Hospital, private Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology practices, and dermatopathology - giving residents exposure to complex medical dermatology, procedural/Mohs training, pediatric dermatology, and inpatient consultative work rather than a single dominant tertiary-care identity. Research is a structured but not central expectation: residents complete mentored projects with required presentation at regional (Phoenix Dermatologic Society) and national (AAD) meetings, alongside protected didactic time and quarterly grand rounds. The program values well-rounded clinical competency across the full breadth of dermatologic subspecialties and engagement with the local dermatology community, more than it signals a narrow academic or physician-scientist pipeline.
