UPMC Lititz is a community hospital-based, osteopathically-focused anesthesiology residency explicitly designed to produce generalist anesthesiologists for small and medium-sized community practices rather than academic or subspecialty careers. Training is anchored at the 144-bed Lititz community hospital with subspecialty rotations (cardiothoracic, pediatric, neuro, trauma) obtained through affiliated tertiary sites, Penn State Hershey Medical Center and UPMC Harrisburg, giving a deliberate community-to-tertiary rotation structure rather than a tertiary-centered one.
