Creighton's Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Residency is a newly launched, four-year categorical program (inaugural class matriculating 2026) based at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, explicitly grounded in Jesuit "cura personalis" values and a stated commitment to serving vulnerable populations. The curriculum follows a traditional structure—a broad multi-specialty clinical base year followed by progressive CA1-3 rotations covering neuroanesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, cardiac, pediatric, regional/chronic pain, and critical care—without evidence of named subspecialty tracks, unusual procedural claims, or a dedicated research infrastructure. Scholarly activity (quality improvement, presentations, publications) is supported but framed as one component among clinical excellence, wellness and mentorship rather than a defining pillar. As a founding program with a small faculty, it emphasizes building program culture collaboratively, favoring residents who value institutional identity, mission alignment and being part of a formative cohort over those seeking an established academic powerhouse or heavy research pedigree.
