Program Identity & Fit

This is a newly established, faith-based categorical anesthesiology residency anchored at AdventHealth's flagship quaternary care center in Orlando, with additional exposure to community hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, giving residents a mix of complex tertiary/quaternary pathology and fast-paced, high-turnover community anesthesia. The curriculum is structured, subspecialty-driven (cardiothoracic, neuro, OB, pediatric, regional, chronic pain, NORA, OR management) and layered with a dedicated simulation lab curriculum covering airway, regional, TEE, and crisis management scenarios rather than being left informal. Scholarly activity is present but modest in scale (resident poster presentations, small faculty-mentored device-comparison research projects) and appears expected rather than central to program identity, supported by an institution-wide GME research office (CARE) rather than department-specific infrastructure. The program's founding-year status, explicit anesthesiology-oriented preliminary year pipeline, and emphasis on perioperative leadership and "faith based, comprehensive training" indicate a program building its identity around producing clinically well-rounded, procedurally competent anesthesiologists suited to both academic-adjacent tertiary practice and community-based anesthesia care.
