Program Identity & Fit

This is a community/university-affiliated Transitional Year housed within the Internal Medicine program at St. Luke's Anderson Campus in Easton, PA, sponsoring up to eight positions annually for applicants using the year as a flexible bridge into another specialty rather than as a terminal training experience. The curriculum is deliberately individualized—roughly 5.5 inpatient blocks, single blocks each of critical care, emergency medicine and primary care, and 4.5 blocks of selectives/electives tailored to each resident's ultimate specialty goals—reflecting a structure built around exploration and preparation rather than a fixed subspecialty track. Distinctive features include combined four-year (dermatology) and five-year (radiology) pathways co-administered with those departments, cross-training alongside Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Behavioral Health and Emergency Medicine residents on a collaborative campus, and an explicit Lifestyle Medicine component within the curriculum. The program frames its identity around adaptability and personalized advising for residents still finalizing their specialty choice, with faculty engagement and interdisciplinary exposure valued over any singular clinical or research focus.
