Program Identity & Fit

This is a hybrid academic/private-practice diagnostic radiology residency at the Sunrise Health GME Consortium in Las Vegas, established in 2020 as Nevada's only radiology residency, training 5 residents/year across MountainView, Southern Hills, and Sunrise Hospitals. The absence of fellows means residents take a primary role in image interpretation and procedures from early in training, with first-year residents already performing a wide variety of IR procedures, and the program is pursuing ESIR certification with 11 months of dedicated IR rotations plus an ICU rotation. Research is highly encouraged and structurally supported through HCA's national infrastructure of statisticians, technical writers, large pre-existing datasets, and the HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine, positioning residents to pursue publications alongside clinical training. The program explicitly prepares residents for both academic and private practice radiology careers, emphasizes procedural autonomy and early responsibility due to the fellow-free structure, and values engagement with committees for leadership exposure and a socioeconomically/culturally diverse Las Vegas patient population.
