Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based, university-affiliated four-year psychiatry program sponsored academically by the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine but delivered entirely within the Endeavor Health (NorthShore) community hospital system in Evanston and surrounding suburbs. The curriculum is broad and clinically comprehensive rather than research-driven, with structured exposure across inpatient, CL, emergency, child/adolescent, addiction, geriatric, and women's mental health services, a fully outpatient PGY-3 year, and a dedicated neuromodulation (ECT/dTMS) rotation in PGY-4. Scholarly work is required but framed as literacy and quality-improvement training rather than a research pathway, and the small four-per-year cohort structure signals an emphasis on close faculty contact and general clinical competency across the full breadth of psychiatric practice.
