This is a four-year, four-resident-per-class community-based OB/GYN program anchored at a private, not-for-profit Level II trauma hospital in St. Petersburg, with a high-acuity obstetric backbone supplied by an on-campus Johns Hopkins All Children's Level IV NICU, Level III RPICC, and dedicated MFM/fetal care partnership. Surgical training is substantial, with dedicated OB-surgery blocks producing primary-surgeon cesarean and complex placenta accreta/cesarean hysterectomy experience, plus benign gynecology case volumes reported in the 70th-90th percentile nationally and a minimally invasive surgery emphasis (>80% MIS hysterectomy rate) tied to a gynecologic oncology and urogynecology-rich curriculum. Research is present through a structured scholarly-activity curriculum spanning clinical research, simulation, medical education, public health, and quality improvement, but the program frames itself primarily around full-scope clinical and surgical competency rather than investigative output. Graduates pursue fellowship, private practice, academic/GME, or hospitalist roles, and the program explicitly values team continuity, noting many graduates return as faculty, alongside a stated mission to serve underserved and diverse patient populations.
