Aurora's OB/GYN Residency is a four-year, community-based program anchored at Aurora Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee's only downtown hospital, serving an urban, underserved patient population through Aurora Sinai Women's Health Services. The curriculum emphasizes broad exposure across subspecialties (maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology) alongside primary care, family planning, and substance abuse management, reflecting a safety-net orientation rather than a narrow tertiary-referral focus. Research is structurally embedded rather than incidental: every resident completes at least one project with access to the Center for Urban Population Health's statisticians and research managers, and ongoing projects skew toward urban and population-health topics (HPV attitudes in Southeast Asian populations, obstetric hemorrhage, acupuncture in oncology). The program pairs this with a deliberately built-out wellness infrastructure (dedicated PCP access, group counseling, crisis planning), suggesting a value placed on residents who can sustain rigorous clinical service in a high-acuity, safety-net environment.
