Program Identity & Fit

This is a faith-based, community-oriented OB/GYN program built around two distinct clinical sites: St. Joseph's Hospital, a safety-net facility serving a medically underserved population with an embedded resident continuity clinic staffed by social workers and care coordinators, and Columbia St. Mary's, a tertiary facility serving a broader urban Milwaukee population. Subspecialty exposure is substantial for a community program, with dedicated rotations and faculty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility, Urogynecology, and Complex Family Planning, alongside a structured surgical curriculum emphasizing broad gynecologic surgical volume. The program explicitly builds resident-led community-based quality improvement projects addressing local health disparities and frames its mission around Ascension's faith-based principles of compassionate, holistic care for marginalized populations. Career orientation is toward well-rounded generalist practice with optional subspecialty exposure rather than a research-heavy academic pipeline, though a monthly research conference exists within the didactic structure.
