Program Identity & Fit

The AdventHealth Tampa OB/GYN Residency is a faith-based, community-embedded, four-year ACGME-accredited program built around a single primary teaching hospital supplemented by targeted subspecialty sites, including Shady Grove Fertility for REI and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center for gynecologic oncology exposure. Clinical training is organized around structured subspecialty divisions (MFM, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, REI, complex family planning) with additional surgical-only rotations at two satellite community hospitals (Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills) that provide daytime operative volume without overnight call. Scholarly activity is structured through the Resident Team-Based Research (RTR) curriculum and supported by the system-wide Center for Academic Research Excellence, indicating institutional research infrastructure without a heavy investigator-track identity. The program pairs a strong simulation-based skills curriculum (intern boot camp, EMIGS, robotics, interdisciplinary obstetric emergency simulation) with an explicit institutional wellness program, and states it prepares residents for private practice, fellowship, or academic careers alike, reflecting a generalist, well-rounded community-academic hybrid identity.
