This is a young, community-based categorical Neurology program anchored at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in the Mid-Hudson Valley, structured as an integrated four-year track beginning with a Zucker/Hofstra-Northwell Transitional Year, ensuring a continuous PGY1-4 experience rather than an open categorical match pool. The clinical model emphasizes inpatient consult/ward exposure, night float, pediatric neurology, headache, and a longitudinal continuity clinic at the Neuroscience Institute, with additional exposure to neurosurgery and neuroradiology, reflecting a generalist foundation rather than a subspecialty-heavy tertiary center. Scholarly activity is structured but modest in scale - dedicated research blocks (4 weeks per year in PGY3/4), required QI projects, and resident participation in AAN/ACGME/IHI poster presentations - positioning research as a supported expectation rather than the program's central identity. As a new program still building its track record, it appears to value residents willing to help shape institutional culture, engage in teaching (a resident-as-teacher supervisory role is built into the structure), and commit to a fully integrated four-year training pathway within one health system.
