Dartmouth-Hitchcock's neurosurgery program is a small, university-affiliated academic department serving as the sole tertiary/quaternary referral center for a large, mostly rural catchment area spanning northern New England, anchored by Level 1 trauma, NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Primary Stroke Center, and Level 4 Epilepsy Center designations.
