This is a community-based internal medicine residency explicitly built around producing general internists for Washington's rural and underserved communities, anchored at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, a 580-bed level 2 trauma referral center serving five counties. Training spans an unusually broad network of sites—multi-specialty groups (Optum, Western Washington Medical Group, PacMed), a VA clinic, FQHC/safety-net partners (Lahai Health, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic), and critical access hospitals in Pullman/Palouse—giving residents deliberate exposure to value-based care, care coordination, and high-complexity primary care panels rather than a single dominant tertiary-academic identity.
