San Joaquin General Hospital's Internal Medicine Residency is a small, county-based, community-oriented program with no in-house fellowships, structured explicitly around hands-on, graduated-responsibility inpatient care and a substantial continuity-clinic requirement (minimum 130 clinics over three years). Its clinical identity blends county safety-net inpatient wards with ambulatory exposure through affiliations with UCSF, UC Davis, Kaiser Permanente Stockton, and a Stanford stroke-management partnership, giving residents breadth without subspecialty competition for procedures or cases.
