NYU Grossman is a large tertiary/quaternary academic internal medicine program built around a deliberately stratified clinical system—private (Tisch/Kimmel), municipal/safety-net (Bellevue, Gouverneur), community (NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn), and federal (VA)—giving residents exposure to distinct patient populations and care models rather than a single institutional culture. Research is deeply embedded in institutional identity, backed by $75 million in annual departmental funding, 1,200+ Department of Medicine faculty, and a dedicated Clinical Investigator Track with structured mentorship, the INTREPID methods course, and pathways into an MS in Clinical Investigation.
