HCA Healthcare Kansas City-Centerpoint Medical Center Program

Program Identity & Fit

This is a new, community-based, HCA-affiliated internal medicine program (welcoming only its second class) built around a combined training environment at Centerpoint Medical Center and Belton Regional Medical Center in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area. The curriculum follows a conventional community-hospital structure emphasizing inpatient medicine, critical care, night float, and core subspecialty rotations (cardiology, nephrology, GI, infectious disease) alongside continuity clinic, with explicit preparation for both primary care/hospital medicine practice and subspecialty fellowship. Scholarship is institutionally supported through HCA's centralized GME research infrastructure (national research coordinators, access to a large multi-site patient-encounter database, and the HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine), with early resident presentations at regional/national conferences signaling that scholarly output is encouraged despite the program's youth. As a first-generation HCA program, it appears to value residents willing to help build program culture and identity while benefiting from HCA's system-wide simulation, wellness, and career-network resources.
