Bon Secours St. Francis is a new, Catholic mission-driven community program in Greenville, SC, built around a 300-bed high-acuity tertiary hospital with advanced cardiac, GI, ICU and procedural capacity, but explicitly organized around community-oriented, disparity-focused, mission-based care for underserved and aging populations. The 4+2 inpatient/outpatient block structure, mandatory scholarly/QI project, and two-week subspecialty exposure blocks signal a program prioritizing broad clinical competence and well-being over a research-heavy identity. Faculty leadership includes DO-trained hospitalists with strong osteopathic and VCOM ties, and the program explicitly supports both generalist and subspecialty-bound trainees. As an inaugural class, it appears to value adaptability, community commitment, and interest in health equity/mission-based care over pedigree or research output.
