Program Identity & Fit

This is a community/university hybrid internal medicine program pairing Mercer University School of Medicine's academic teaching structure with a large, nonprofit Level 1 trauma center serving a 30-county, ~750,000-person catchment area in central Georgia. The program explicitly emphasizes a small, resident-led, autonomous team model with manageable census (6-16 patients/team), a mix of insured and uninsured patients yielding "bread and butter" medicine with occasional complex/rare pathology, and heavy involvement in teaching Mercer medical students.
