Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell at Glen Cove Hospital Program

Program Identity & Fit

An unopposed, community-based and university-affiliated residency at Glen Cove Hospital within Northwell Health, founded in 1973 and structured 7-7-7. Most initial inpatient rotations take place at Huntington Hospital, while continuity care centers on the Family Medicine Center, a Level III patient-centered medical home connected to the hospital by an enclosed passageway. The program reports approximately 13,000 patient visits annually at the center, with a further 6,000 by full-time faculty, and office hours run at a maximum resident-to-faculty ratio of 4:1. Subspecialty clinics in dermatology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, orthopedics and sports medicine, pediatrics, podiatry and urology are held exclusively for Family Medicine Center patients, and the program states it has more than 230 alumni, many practicing on Long Island.
