This is a rural-track family medicine program (RTT, established 2009) based in Jerome/Twin Falls, Idaho, combining a small critical-access hospital home base (St. Benedicts/St. Luke's Jerome) with specialist-rich rotations 15 miles away at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center (220-bed tertiary referral center). Residents function as primary continuity providers from day one, delivering their own obstetric patients and managing their own medical panel, with training built around maternity care and a broad menu of office and inpatient procedures (colonoscopy, EGD, C-sections, colposcopy, vasectomy). The continuity clinic population is agriculture/aquaculture-based with a substantial (~30%) Hispanic community, reinforcing a full-scope, underserved, community-oriented mission rather than a subspecialty or academic research identity. Scholarly output is modest and locally-driven (EBP reviews, occasional posters) rather than a defining feature; graduates pursue board-certified generalist practice in rural, community, and international/underserved settings, signaling that the program values autonomy-seeking residents comfortable with broad scope-of-practice medicine in a small-town environment.
