Virginia Mason's anesthesiology residency is a small, moderately-sized academic community program built around a longstanding reputation for regional anesthesia and pain medicine, with additional subspecialty strength in cardiac, neuro, obstetric anesthesia, echocardiography, and quality improvement. Clinical training is distributed across high-acuity partner sites - Swedish Medical Center for high-volume obstetrics, Seattle Children's Hospital for pediatric anesthesia, and Harborview Medical Center for Level 1 trauma/critical care - giving residents exposure to complex, subspecialized cases beyond the home institution.
