This is a large, academic anesthesiology program (30 residents per class) embedded in the Texas Medical Center, drawing on an unusually broad rotation network spanning the nation's busiest Level I trauma center (Memorial Hermann-TMC), MD Anderson, Texas Children's Hospital, Houston Methodist, and the safety-net LBJ Hospital, giving residents exposure to transplant, cardiothoracic, neuro, pediatric, and trauma anesthesia at high volume. Research is structurally embedded through the DART resident research requirement and a formal four-year Scholars Program offering eleven protected months for those pursuing physician-scientist careers, backed by a translational Center for Perioperative Medicine and NIH-funded faculty.
