Program Identity & Fit

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center's Anesthesiology Residency is a county safety-net program serving as the primary teaching site for California University of Science and Medicine, with academic partnerships extending to Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Its identity is built around a Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Regional Burn Center designation, giving residents high-acuity exposure to complex surgical and critically ill patients across a broad range of subspecialties (obstetric, pediatric, cardiothoracic, neuro, regional, critical care). The program layers simulation and POCUS training onto a four-year curriculum with progressive clinical responsibility, and explicitly frames graduates for academic medicine, private practice, or fellowship rather than committing to one track. As a small program with five categorical spots annually, it emphasizes scholarship, leadership development, and service to an underserved county population alongside clinical training.
