Program Identity & Fit

This is a faith-affiliated, community-based transitional year program at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, designed as a broad-based launchpad year for residents heading into either primary care or subspecialty/procedural fields. The curriculum balances internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, procedures, palliative care, and ambulatory clinic blocks, with a dedicated research block (Grand Rounds/M&M preparation plus a CLIN-IQ PICO-format project) built into the schedule rather than left optional. Didactics are shared with the Family Medicine residents (M&M, Ethics, Grand Rounds, Journal Club), reflecting a small, integrated GME environment rather than a large academic medical center. Graduates have gone on to anesthesiology, dermatology, diagnostic radiology, neurology, internal medicine, PM&R, family medicine, and OB/GYN, indicating the program values well-rounded generalist competence and professionalism over a specific specialty pipeline, framed explicitly through a "faith-centered patient advocacy" mission.
