Program Identity & Fit

This is a university-based, academic OB/GYN residency anchored at the University of Chicago Medical Center (Hyde Park) with one-third of training at Endeavor Health-Evanston, a community-based affiliate, giving residents exposure to two distinct systems of care delivery and resource utilization. The program is structured around a full complement of subspecialty rotations beginning as early as PGY1 (REI, family planning, pediatric/adolescent gynecology, colposcopy, ultrasound) with graduated autonomy through PGY3-4, and formal scholarly infrastructure including monthly journal clubs, resident-driven Grand Rounds, and a dedicated Evidence-Based Medicine Day requiring structured PICO-style critical appraisal projects. Career outcomes split evenly - roughly half pursue fellowship/academic careers and half enter general community practice - reflecting a program that builds toward both pathways rather than funneling residents into subspecialization. Distinctive features include structured simulation training (Grainger Center), FLS/EMIGS surgical curricula, assigned research mentors at both campuses, and explicit wellness/career-planning programming beginning early in training.
