Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based OB/GYN residency sponsored through the University of Central Florida/HCA Healthcare GME Consortium, training generalists to serve rural, geriatric, minority, and underserved women in North Central Florida. The curriculum layers full subspecialty exposure - maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology/infertility, urogynecology, and complex family planning - across a network of dedicated community sites (Women's Group of North Florida, Women's Pelvic Health, The IVF Center, Bread & Roses) rather than a single academic quaternary center. Scholarly activity is supported through HCA's national research infrastructure (30+ million patient encounters, research coordinators, the HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine) but is not positioned as central to program identity, which instead emphasizes producing well-rounded generalists prepared for independent practice or subspecialty fellowship. The program values close resident-faculty interaction, individualized learning, and a service orientation toward an underserved, community population.
