Saint Joseph Hospital's OB-Gyn residency, the oldest in Denver (est. 1949), combines a community-based, high-volume clinical model (4,000+ deliveries annually) with academic-level case complexity, drawing from Kaiser Colorado partnerships, private-practitioner deliveries, and backup coverage for a CNM group and Denver's only freestanding birth center. The absence of on-site fellowships means residents work directly with subspecialists in clinic and OR, producing strong generalist training alongside a track record of graduates entering MIS, REI, urogynecology, family planning, and MFM fellowships. GYN surgical volume, including robotic (DaVinci XI), laparoscopic, and vaginal approaches, is a defining strength, reinforced by dedicated fourth-year MIS rotations. The program also embeds structured health-policy advocacy (state and national lobbying days) and charity-care work with underserved patients, reflecting an institutional mission orientation alongside its generalist/fellowship-preparatory identity.
