This is a large, integrated academic-community Ob/Gyn program combining the tertiary/quaternary resources of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with two Mount Carmel community hospitals, giving residents exposure across gynecologic oncology, MFM, REI, urogynecology, MIGS, and community-based benign gynecology and obstetrics. With 44 residents, over 55 faculty across six specialty divisions, and dedicated elective/research rotations built into the third year, the program supports both broad generalist training and subspecialty fellowship preparation (the department runs its own MFM, Gyn Onc, Urogynecology, and Pediatric/Adolescent Gynecology fellowships). Community engagement is structurally embedded through programs like the STEPP clinic for perinatal substance use and infant mortality reduction initiatives, reflecting an institutional focus on maternal health disparities in the underserved Columbus population. The program sits within a top-tier NIH-funded research institution, signaling that residents with scholarly or population-health interests have meaningful infrastructure to draw on, while the size and multi-site structure reward residents comfortable moving fluidly between quaternary academic and community clinical cultures.
