Program Identity & Fit

Lincoln Medical Center's OB/GYN residency is a safety-net, community-based program in the South Bronx affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College and St. George's University, operating out of a hospital with the nation's 3rd most active emergency room and roughly 1,800 deliveries and 500 gynecologic surgeries annually. Training centers on high-volume, high-acuity obstetrics and broad gynecologic surgery (including MIGS, oncology, and urogynecology) for a medically and socially complex, largely immigrant and Spanish-speaking population, with a senior-year rotation at a New Jersey community hospital adding private-practice and robotic surgery exposure. Research is present as encouraged scholarship (QI projects, conference presentations at ACOG/CREOG/SGO/SMFM) rather than a defining pillar, and graduates split across fellowships (MFM, gyn-onc, REI, family planning), academic faculty roles, and private practice. The program explicitly values cultural competence, health-equity advocacy, and physician retention in the region, seeking residents who will thrive amid dense clinical volume and social complexity rather than pursuing a narrowly research-driven track.
