Henry Ford Providence is a community-based, four-year OB/GYN residency operating across two suburban Detroit campuses (Southfield and Novi) with no in-house fellowships, meaning residents themselves lead and staff the department's three subspecialty divisions (Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery). This structure gives residents outsized clinical and surgical responsibility in high-volume subspecialty services typically run by fellows elsewhere, while REI exposure is supplemented through community-based partnerships. The explicit program mission is to prepare generalist OB/GYNs for practice in rural, suburban, or urban settings, with curriculum building toward robotics and broad operative exposure by fourth year; research is supported but structurally minor (one elective block in year three).
