Program Identity & Fit

This is a community-based, HCA Healthcare-affiliated OB/GYN residency in Webster, TX, university-partnered with the University of Houston (Clear Lake), explicitly oriented toward training physicians to serve as primary care providers for women in underserved and diverse local communities. The curriculum provides broad exposure across the four subspecialty domains (MFM, urogynecology, REI, gynecologic oncology) plus complex family planning electives, reflecting a generalist-focused structure rather than a fellowship pipeline emphasis. Research is supported through HCA's national scholarly infrastructure (system-wide data access, research coordinators, HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine) but is framed as meeting ACGME expectations rather than being a defining institutional pillar. The program explicitly foregrounds resident well-being (HCA's "Pathways to Flourishing" model), mentorship, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity in service of underserved populations as core values.
